The 5th Edition of the ALN Africa Investment Conference

Strathmore University was well represented at the fifth edition of the ALN Africa Investment Conference, held from the 7th -8th November 2018 at the Four Seasons Resort, Jumeirah Beach Dubai. The Investment Conference has been held annually since 2014 with the objective of spurring investment in Africa, connecting industry and policy leaders and promoting the continent. This forum serves as an effective platform for dialogue on critical commercial and policy topics, to encourage partnerships and to stimulate deal making.

The recently concluded high-level conference covered discussions on the risks and rewards of opening Africa up for business, entry strategies, implications of the adoption of disruptive technology, the rise of African mega-cities, the appetite to finance deals, how to run family businesses and the impact of the push for renewable energy sources, hot markets and more.

The invite-only event, where ALN carefully vets the list of attendees to ensure calibre and relevance, was graced by H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Minister for Tolerance, United Arab Emirates and Dr. Cheick Modibo Diarra Former Prime Minister of Mali & Chairman, ALN who were the guests of honor.

Dr. Luis Franceschi, Dean of Strathmore Law School, at the invitation on Anjarwalla and Khanna –ALN, participated in the 2018 edition and moderated the conference’s closing panel titled, Africa as a Land of Opportunity: Another Scramble? The panel sought to explore some of the issues that arise from the involvement of these foreign players on the ground, including geopolitical imperatives, how they approach their involvement, investment models, and future implications for the continent.
