Law Student Daniel Gachura - Promoting Peace through Acting

In 54 days’ time, Kenyans will be headed to the ballot to cast their vote amid high political temperatures in the country. Political leaders across the political divide, have stepped up their campaigns in a bid to persuade their supporters to vote in their favour. Even as the battle for votes continues to rage on in the country, a section of Kenyans are championing for peaceful elections. 3rd year Law student Daniel Gachura, is one such individual who is at the forefront in advocating for a peaceful election come August 8th this year.

Daniel, the brain child of the Rira Musical- a creative play depicting accounts of the infamous Rwanda genocide, has set out to create awareness on the importance of holding peaceful elections in the form of entertaining the audience through acting.

The play which depicts the themes of love, hate, betrayal, war and tribalism is geared towards sensitising the electorate of the choices they make and the subsequent consequences of their choices, if and when they vote in bad leaders. It urges the constituents to consciously vote for leaders who are pro-peace and leaders who will spearhead development in the country.

Daniel and his Kweva cast, will showcase the much anticipated informing drama on Saturday 17th June 2017 at Strathmore University main auditorium. There will be two performances, at 3:00pm – 5:00pm; and at 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
