Dr. Jennifer Wamuyu Gitahi holds a Ph.D in Law (Legal Theory), a Master’s degree in Law (Canon Law) and a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B). Dr. Gitahi has a passion for teaching, research, and mentoring as has been evident throughout her career. She served as the Founding Academic Director of Strathmore University Law School (SLS), playing a key role in setting the foundations of SLS as well as operationalising the LL.B curriculum and designing the LL.M and LL.D curriculum. She is also an inaugural member and the lead of a vibrant initiative of academic and professional mentoring for undergraduate students. Dr. Gitahi’s foundational protagonism in these two endeavours demonstrates her commitment to shaping the academic landscape in Africa in the realm of legal studies. Her dedication extends beyond traditional institutional boundaries, empowering law students while fostering excellence.
Dr. Gitahi’s linguistic proficiency (she speaks five (5) languages fluently) has greatly facilitated her engagement with diverse communities, fostering deeper connections, intellectual discourse, and understanding across cultures and regions, particularly within the field of legal studies.
Dr. Gitahi specialises in Legal Education, Family and Succession Law, Comparative Law, Jurisprudence, Equity and Trust Law, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Additionally, Dr. Gitahi is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and an SDRC/Facilit8 (UK) accredited mediator. She is currently also a member of the High Court Family Division Bar Bench Committee as well as the Milimani Chief Magistrate’s Family Court Bar Bench Committee.
