Geoffrey is a trained sociologist with over 10 years’ experience working with civil society organizations, academia and national human rights institutions. He has extensive experience in the areas of business and human rights, economic, social, cultural rights and HIV/AIDS. Geoffrey has specifically implemented work revolving around the energy, oil, gas, mining and health sectors in East Africa. Before taking up the leadership of the Centre, Geoffrey worked as the Programme Manager for the Extractives Baraza(EB) where he was pivotal in promoting EB as a credible, influential and neutral platform that shapes policy and practice through research, capacity building, stakeholder engagement and access to information in Kenya and East Africa’s extractives and energy sectors.

Notably, he has successfully spearhead development of useful research papers and tools notably the Judiciary Guide on “Handling Extractives Related Grievances in Kenya”. Before Joining EB in 2016, Geoffrey worked with the Institute for Human Rights and Business and Kenya National Commission on Human Rights where he implemented work around business and human rights.
