Purity Wangigi is a Lecturer at Strathmore University Law School, where she teaches Legal Research and Writing and Energy and Climate Change Law. She is also a PhD Candidate at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, and serves as the Law School’s Mentorship Coordinator. Purity is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). She holds an LLM in Oil and Gas Law from Strathmore University Law School, and both an LLB and a BSc. in Pure Mathematics from the University of Nairobi.

Beyond the classroom, Purity has worked at the intersection of law, policy, and practice. She contributed to the drafting of the Nairobi County Air Quality Policy through the Stockholm Environment Institute Kenya, served on the Secretariat of the Presidential Taskforce on Power Purchase Agreements, and has provided legal consultancy to Kenya’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mining. She also trained prosecution counsels on environmental crimes under a UNEP-funded initiative.

Her research is driven by a deep interest in environmental and energy law, particularly how legal frameworks can better serve communities and ecosystems in the context of Kenya’s extractives sector and the broader climate governance conversation across Africa.
