Tioko Ekiru Emmanuel is a Graduate Assistant at Strathmore University. He is equally, a research assistant at the Strathmore University Press (SUP). Ekiru, holds Bachelor of Laws (Hons), LLB from Moi University School of Law. He has also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, anticipating admission to the Bar. Ekiru has an ardent passion for academic scholarship. As an undergraduate, Ekiru, served in various leadership capacities, key among them being the President of Law Students Society of Kenya (LSSK)- Annex .He was recognized as the outstanding student leader of the year in 2018 by Moi University, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Kosgey. Further, Ekiru has authored and published several path-breaking articles that have informed the Kenyan jurisprudence. As a result he was awarded the CB Madan Award (Students Category) by the Platform Legal Journal, on 7th December, 2018 at Strathmore Law School, an accolade in memory of one of Kenya’s arguably most erudite and progressive Chief Justices. In his community, Turkana, Ekiru is one of the founders of a student body known as ‘ Kainuk Students Association’ (KASA) which was established to agitate for students’ welfare in money lending institutions both in the county and in the national level. Ekiru, is currently a lawyer trainee at Katiba Institute,a pro-human rights and democratic governance, civil society organisation(CSO) founded by Prof.Jill Cottrell and prof.Yash Pal Ghai, the world-renowned constitutional governance scholar, with mandates to promote knowledge and studies on constitutionalism and the implementation of Kenya’s 2010 Constitution.
